Lately, I have been helping my sister with her kids’ bedtime routines. Like many kids, they don’t love going to sleep when told, ask for extra stories, ask for extra hugs and tuck-ins, and get out of bed a couple of times to seek her out before finally going to sleep.

This can be exhausting for parents! Especially if it’s happening every night, and you start around 7 and they aren’t in bed until 9 or later… That’s cutting into your YOU time!

So I’ve been doing some extra reading and attending some webinars on sleep to brush up on my skills. If you’d like to check out a great webinar, Coastal Ridge Behaviour and Sleep Solutions just did a fabulous one on sleep for the Autism Support Network (hint: the same strategies that work for a child with autism work for anyone with sleep challenges, including me and you!).

In the video, the national sleep foundation is discussed. They have an entirely separate website dedicated just to helping kids sleep (Check it out by clicking here)! It’s an interactive website that teaches kids why sleep is important and teaches them all about proper sleep hygiene. There are even a few fun games!

Try the website out with your kids and let me know what they think!
