Resource: Nurturing in Place

I have been attending a 3-day long conference this weekend (online!) with a variety of professionals, service providers, and students all interested in different things from working with children with autism, to teaching in classrooms, to parent coaching, to animal training, and even those interested in climate change!

Sometimes these conferences get overwhelming with all of the information that can be learnt, and the resources shared, and the networks and friendships fostered!

But during one of the final presentations yesterday, a presenter discussed The Nurturing Place.

This is a beautiful, free website with two separate sections:

1. Resources for looking after yourself as a parent/caregiver!

2. Resources for supporting your children!

Nurturing in Place was created in response to COVID-19 as a way to support families in need, and it was created by some pretty smart people (you can see all of the contributors listed here on their GoFundMe page)!

The resources for parents include strategies and activities related to mindfulness, handling tough days and emotions, being kind to yourself, and more.

The resources for children (called Kernels for Kids) include suggestions and activities for parents and caregivers to increase their children's motivation, helping children identify their values, helping children practice mindfulness, perspective taking activities, and more!

This website also has what they call family recipes... they're not real recipes, but instead step-by-step instructions/suggestions for challenging routines such as getting kids to help out with chores, get through the morning routine without any issues, and maintaining physical and mental health during COVID.

It is truly a beautiful resource, and I encourage you to check it out!
